VI PEEL FAQ

  • A VI Peel is a specialized medical grade medium-depth peel that provides visible enhancement of the skin’s appearance. It purges the upper layer of the skin to reveal the youthful, brighter, and clearer skin underneath.

  • The procedure itself takes approximately 30 minutes from start to finish. Patients can expect to have the treatments repeated between three to six months to maintain the results and keep their skin looking clear and beautiful!

  • Many patients come into our practice seeking cosmetic treatments to prepare for a special event such as a reunion or wedding. Patients should plan to have their peel performed around two weeks before their event. This allows adequate time for the results of the peel to take effect.

laser skin resurfacing richmond va IPL

IPL

IPL (Intense Pulsed Light) laser is a type of non-invasive skin treatment that uses broad-spectrum light to treat a variety of skin concerns, including dark spots, sun damage, hyperpigmented acne scars, hyperpigmented surgical scars, and fine lines. IPL is a type of photofacial that delivers multiple wavelengths of light to the skin to target specific skin concerns.

During an IPL laser treatment, a handheld device is used to deliver intense pulses of light to the skin. The light penetrates the skin and is absorbed by pigmented areas, such as dark spots, or by blood vessels, which can reduce the appearance of redness and broken capillaries.

IPL laser treatments are typically performed in a series of sessions, spaced 4 to 6 weeks apart, in order to achieve optimal results. The number of sessions required can vary depending on the individual’s skin concerns and the severity of the condition being treated.

One of the advantages of an IPL laser treatment is that it’s non-invasive and requires little to no downtime. Most patients can resume their normal activities immediately after treatment.

IPL FAQ

  • Lumecca IPL, or Intense Pulsed Light, is a cosmetic treatment that uses broad-spectrum light to address various skin concerns. It is a non-invasive procedure commonly used for skin rejuvenation, reducing the appearance of age spots, sun damage, small vascular lesions, and general pigmentation irregularities. Lumecca IPL works by delivering controlled pulses of light energy to the targeted areas- lifting the pigment, stimulating collagen production, and improving the overall texture and tone of the skin.

  • There is no clinical downtime! You may want to consider a 1-2 day “social” downtime due to the possibility of mild redness and swelling post treatment.

  • IPL treatments take approximately 45 minutes to complete.

  • IPL permanently removes pigmentation, however, you bodies ability to maintain your results will be based on a variety of factors such as your sun exposure and daily skincare regimen.

  • The number of treatment sessions is dictated by the skin concern and overall goal. Most patients receive 3 IPL treatments scheduled at 4 week intervals.

  • $400 for individual treatments, or $950 for a package of 3.

skinpen microneedling near me richmond va

SkinPen

Uncover your best skin.

SkinPen microneedling helps improve acne scars, fine lines, and enlarged pores. Treatment with SkinPen is safe for all skin types. Treatment areas typically include the face & neck, chest, and any areas that have stretch marks or scarring.

SKINPEN FAQ

  • Microneedling is also known as collagen induction therapy, sometimes it’s referred to as the “Vampire Facial”. The Skin pen (one of the only FDA approved devices and procedures) is used to create controlled microinjuries to the top layer of the dermis. These microinjuries stimulate the body’s natural healing process which in turn boosts collagen and elastin production. Collagen and elastin are the compounds in your skin that add structure and strength. The increase in collagen and elastin helps improve scarring, reduce fine lines, and improve pore size.

  • Active acne, facial eczema or psoriasis, keloid or hypertrophic scarring

  • The total appointment takes about 90 minutes. During that time, your face will be cleansed, and you will sit with topical numbing cream on the treatment area for approximately 45 minutes. The treatment itself takes about 15 - 20 minutes to complete.

  • Your skin may feel tight and itchy, similar to a sunburn. Some slight peeling generally occurs around day 3-5, let it flake off naturally. Use the post care serum as needed for dryness and comfort. No washing the face for the rest of the day. Ideally no makeup for 48 hours, but at minimum 24 hours. Avoid any ‘active’ products for around 5 days or until skin irritation is gone. Avoid working out for 48-72 hours to minimize risk of sweat and bacteria getting into the open channels we’ve created. Wait 2-3 weeks before treatment with any peels.

To aid in tissue regeneration it is important to keep your skin hydrated and wear SPF 30 or higher. Until the skin has completely healed, avoid further exfoliation or active ingredient skin care such as Vitamin A (retinols), Vit C, AHA/BHA’s, alcohol-based toners.
